Frolicking at the French open...and people who pick their noses on the metro...
Spent a lovely afternoon at the French Open qualifying matches of wednesday. Largest group of attractive young men I have seen since I began my time in Paree, only to be rivaled by today's zone conference meeting for the Paris mission which was held at our school today...haha. The tennis was fabulous, set in the courts of the historic Roland Garros stadium, saw a Canadian play and I was sufficiently proud of my fellow countryman. The weather was lovely, furthering my ever more pronounced farmers tan.
Riding the metro as I do, every morning and evening, I have been making several observations of my fellow riders. Paramount in these observations is the shocking number of people I see picking their nose. These dignified frenchmen will keep their poker faces in check during a forty minute ride on the train, cover their mouth when they cough but seem to have no qualms about picking their noses for the world to see. Interesting.
Had a lovely day today, Class this morning followed by a trip to the largest, most well-organized vintage shop I have every seen! It was quite a marvel! And best of all, I found THE dress, the amazingly pristine white dress which I plan on treasuring forever as a souvenir of my amazing time here. A very fulfilling shopping trip to be sure.
After shopping we sat in the Tuilierie garden eating hazelnut gelato next to a lovely fountain watching a very eccentric frenchmen do his exercises which involved copious amounts of pushups and various sprints around the park, interesting to be sure. Following this brief respite we traveled to the Museum of The Orangerie which houses the "Water Lilies" cycles of Monet in beautifully peaceful, pristine white rooms. Goodness I love impressionism!
Waltzed down the Champs Elysees this evening which culminated in a trip up the 284 steps of the Arc De Triomphe which offered such amazing views of Paris, what a beautiful city! The sun is setting now and tomorrow we head to Versailles, tales of Royal beauty soon to come!
