Getting lost in Paris

So as an assignment for class, we were supposed to get lost in paris...become a "flaneur" or one who gets lost and just strolls, taking in the crowd and the general ambiance of the town. Today Kayla and I decided to try our hand at getting lost. Keep in mind, in our prep class there were very few places we were told to avoid, one of them being the area around the Moulin Rouge. So in the spirit of getting totally lost, we jumped on a few random metros and we accidentally found ourselves at the Moulin, whoops, walked out of there with both feet moving fast. Luckily after we had passed all of the elicit shops and cabarets (at a safe distance, do not worry) we found ourselves at Sacre Coeur, an amazing edifice which perfectly acted as the foil for our previous experience thank goodness!

In culture class today we were pleasantly surprised with a course on chocolate, complete with amazing pieces of chocolate to try. Since we don't enjoy the wine culture of France, said my prof, we must embrace the chocolate! And embrace we did. Along with each piece, a history was read, and with each bite we discussed the different flavors which emanated from these luxuriant chocolates, definitely one of my favorite experiences so far!

After class today we decided to go on a walk to the Luxembourg gardens which was truly a treat. They are enormous and truly beautiful, filled with large trees, many statues, chess-playing students and petanque-playing old men, vraiment mignon! Just came home to a little shepard's pie and roasted tomatoes, a charmed life to be sure!

When I left the house this morning I happened to forget my camera, a grave mistake indeed, one, dear reader, I promise never to allow to happen again.
